Scots Roll Past Muskies 9-0

John Schulz
Senior John Schulz was a double winner, including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3 singles.

The College of Wooster men's tennis team swept past Muskingum University 9-0, dominating the non-conference match as the Fighting Scots gave up just 15 games combined over the nine positions on Wednesday at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

Seniors Landon Moore and Paul Thomas teamed up for the first time this season and responded with an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, John Schulz and Tripp McLane won by a similar margin at No. 2 (8-3), and Davis Elkins and Avery Rapson shutout their foes at No. 3 to give Wooster (8-6) early control of the match.

Only one of the singles matches was much of a contest and that occurred at the top of the lineup, where Moore edged out his opponent 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. Thomas, Schulz, and Elkins each registered double bagels (6-0, 6-0) at Nos. 2-4, respectively, Erik Lindberg yielded a single game at the fifth spot (6-1, 6-0), and McLane delivered another double bagel at the sixth position.

The Scots will play for the third consecutive day on Thursday, traveling to regionally-ranked Denison University (9-5).
