As it did against Denison University earlier in the week, The College of Wooster men's tennis team played hard against another regionally-ranked opponent, Allegheny College, which is 16th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Rankings, but in the end, the Gators proved too much for the Fighting Scots in an 8-1 setback in North Coast Athletic Conference East action at Meadville, Pa.

This match had a silver lining, as Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins continued their strong play at the third doubles spot, this time edging out Allegheny's pair in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-3). The win pushed Buchan and Elkins to 10-4 on the year.

There were other high points, including at No. 1 singles, where Willy Nelson took three games from the 11th ranked player in the region, Patrick Cole. Nelson did all of his damage in the second set of a 6-0, 6-3 defeat.

Harrison Suttle was also impressive in singles action, as he forced a tiebreaker after winning the first set of a highly-competitive 2-6, 7-5 (7-1) loss at the No. 2 spot.

Another back-and-forth battle came at the fifth-spot, where John Schulz just missed out on capturing a victory in the opening set, but came up just shy 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

The Scots (8-8, 0-2 NCAC East) will get yet another regional power their next time out, as they host the Central region's third-ranked Kenyon College (12-6, 0-0 NCAC East) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
