The College of Wooster men's tennis team combined for an impressive 10-4 singles record at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Div. III Central Region Championships, hosted in the Indianapolis area over the weekend.

The best players in the region were divided up into "A" and "B" tournaments in both singles and doubles, and Wooster's Titas Bera continued his notable freshman campaign. Already having earned the No. 25 seed at ITA's, Bera lived up to that seeding as he cruised to 6-1, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-0 wins during the first two rounds to reach the Round of 32. There, Bera pushed the No. 7 seed, a senior from Case Western Reserve University, before being eliminated 7-5, 6-4.

Harrison Suttle advanced all the way to the semifinals of the "B" field, winning four matches. He started with decisive 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 victories, the latter coming against an opponent from Wittenberg University, then he prevailed over two seeded players – 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 over the No. 6 and 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 over the No. 3.

Additionally in the "B" bracket, Willy Nelson and Jacob Pine both won a pair of matches to join Suttle in the Round of 16. Nelson's triumphs were decisive 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-3 affairs, and Pine's winning score lines were 6-1, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-4.

Bera and Suttle teamed together in the "A" doubles, and after falling in the first round, they made it through a couple of rounds of the consolation bracket, while Nelson and Pine won three matches in the "B" doubles to advance to the semifinals. They cruised 8-2 in the opening round, defeated a Case Western Reserve tandem 8-3, and then earned a hard-fought 9-7 decision over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology before falling in the semis 8-4.

Wooster will close its fall season with a traditional dual match at Walsh University on Oct. 18.
