The College of Wooster men's tennis team opened North Coast Athletic Conference East Division play on Saturday by facing Oberlin College, currently ranked No. 13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Div. III Central Region, and the Fighting Scots secured two points but could not upend the Yeomen as they fell 7-2 inside Heisman Field House at Oberlin, Ohio.

Wooster (8-5, 0-1 NCAC East) fell into a 3-0 hole during the doubles portion of the match, then played much better across the board in singles.

Jack Buchan eased his way to a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the No. 3 position and Willy Nelson prevailed 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 at No. 5, however, it was not enough as other tightly-contested singles matches went to Oberlin (7-4, 1-0 NCAC East). At the fourth spot, Jacob Pine nearly pushed his opponent to three sets before losing a close second and the match 6-3, 7-5.

Also of note, two-regionally-ranked players met at No. 1 singles, with the Yeomen's Ian Paik upending Titas Bera 6-2, 6-2.

The Scots' challenging stretch continues Monday with a visit from Denison University (5-7) at 4 p.m.
