The College of Wooster won five of six singles matches, including at No. 1 where Titas Bera gave the Fighting Scots the clinching point, to get past the University of Mount Union by a final count of 6-3 Friday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at Alliance, Ohio.

Wooster (2-0) fell behind 2-1 during the doubles portion of the match, with the No. 3 team of Vilius Sulnis and Davis Elkins securing its lone team point via an 8-5 victory.

Once the singles matches hit the court, the Scots rebounded quickly as they took the first four sets that were completed at various positions. Harrison Suttle evened the team score as he coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5, then Elkins gave Wooster the lead by putting together a decisive 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the sixth position. Next of the court was Kieran McTague with a 6-3, 6-2 score line at No. 4, and suddenly the Scots were up 4-2.

Bera overcame a slow start at the top of the lineup, as he went up a service break for the first time late in the first set and then had an easier time in the second en route to securing the match at 7-5, 6-3.

Sulnis tacked on a 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles for Wooster's final point.

The Scots will be in action throughout the weekend, as they'll be at the Oberlin Invitational for individual match play on Saturday and Sunday.
