The College of Wooster swept a doubleheader on St. Patrick's Day, with Titas Bera helping clinch each match, first giving the Fighting Scots an eventual 7-2 win over Macalester College in singles play, then helping provide the decisive team point in doubles as they prevailed 6-3 versus Hamilton College during men's tennis action at Orlando, Fla.

After losing 7-2 to regionally-ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Tuesday, Wooster (7-3) bounced back with relatively decisive victories, starting with a quick 3-0 lead via a doubles sweep against Macalester (5-4) during the morning session.

The teams of Bera-Harrison Suttle and Kieran McTague-Jesse DeWitt posted identical 8-3 triumphs at the second and third spots, respectively, and just a bit later, Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins put the finishing touches on their 8-5 victory at No. 1.

The Scots did not take long to clinch the match during singles play, as Suttle notched a 6-1, 7-5 win at the fifth spot right before Bera gave them a 5-0 advantage when he completed a 6-4, 6-1 conquest. McTague and Elkins later tacked on respective victories at No. 3 (6-3, 6-4) and at No. 4 (6-2, 4-6, 10-8).

Hamilton (3-4) presented more of a challenge. The teams played a different format with singles action going first, and thanks to decisive wins at the top-two positions and taking two of the three-setters further down the lineup, Wooster gained a 4-2 match lead.

Bera only yielded one game during a dominant display at first singles (6-0, 6-1) and Buchan also was in command throughout at second singles (6-3, 6-2). Suttle and DeWitt pulled out a pair of gutsy wins, with the former overcoming a match point and winning the last three points of a third-set super tiebreaker for a 2-6, 6-1, 11-9 decision and the latter battling through cramps as well as five match points to prevail in a marathon 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (8-6), 10-7.

The Scots still had work to do, though, as the Continentals quickly earned a point at third doubles to   pull within 4-3. Bera and Suttle clinched it for Wooster without much drama, though, producing an 8-4 victory at No. 2, and later Buchan-Elkins picked up their second triumph of the day at the top of the lineup (8-5).

After a couple days off for from competition, the Scots' busy spring trip will continue with five matches over a four-day span.
