Wooster Cruises Past Wittenberg 7-2

With five quick wins, The College of Wooster secured a team victory over Wittenberg University in just over an hour of court time, and the Fighting Scots went on to a 7-2 triumph in men's tennis action Friday at Springfield, Ohio.

Wooster (9-8) swept the doubles mathces, giving up just a combined 10 games along the way. At the top flight, Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins followed up their win against a regionally-ranked team from Wednesday with a matching 8-3 score line. Titas Bera and Harrison Suttle also took an 8-3 decision at No. 2, while Kieran McTague and Jesse DeWitt completed the sweep by way of an 8-5 victory at No. 3.

Suttle and DeWitt clinched the outcome with dominant performances in singles, as the former posted a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at the fifth position and the latter a 6-1, 6-1 at six.

The Scots tacked on two more points, with McTague and Elkins both prevailing in second-set tiebreakers. At No. 3, McTague was a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) winner, and at No. 4, Elkins won by a similar score of 6-0, 7-6 (7-1).

Next Friday, Wooster will play John Carroll University (3-6) in a match that has been postponed twice previously. This time, they're slated to play on the campus of Ursuline College at 3:30 p.m.
