The College of Wooster men's tennis team turned in a solid weekend at the non-scoring Oberlin College Invitational. The Fighting Scots went 13-9, which included a 6-3 mark in doubles on Saturday.

Two of Wooster's three doubles entries in the tournament turned in prefect slates on Saturday.

Wooster's No. 1 tandem of seniors Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins opened play with a convincing 8-3 win over a John Carroll University tandem. Then, the senior duo edged out a team from North Coast Athletic Conference rival Denison University 9-8, before wrapping up play with an 8-5 win over Allegheny College.

Junior Titas Bera and sophomore Jesse DeWitt backed up Buchan and Elkins with a pair of hard fought 8-6 and 9-8 wins over an Oberlin College and a John Carroll team. Then, sandwiched in the middle, Bera and DeWitt took down a Juniata College entry 8-3.

Bera carried over his doubles success to singles play on Sunday. The junior topped a pair of Case Western Reserve University competitors 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2, 7-5.

Freshman Nathan Devereux also turned in a clean slate in singles play. Devereux topped a pair of Div. II competitors from the University of Findlay. He only dropped three games in his first match during a 6-2, 6-1 win, and then rallied back after dropping the first set of his nightcap 5-7 to win the next two sets 6-2, 10-2.

Wooster is back in action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Tournament at Kalamazoo, Mich. with play slated to begin on Friday, Sept. 23.
