Trio of Scots Turn in Stellar Weekend at ITA Regional Tournament

Titas Bera knocked off a seeded player in singles play while Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins advanced to the round of 16 before bowing out of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Tournament at Kalamazoo, Mich. over the weekend.

Bera topped sixth-seeded Daniel Rodefeld of DePauw University 6-1, 6-4 in the second round. In his first singles match of the weekend, Bera picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Denison University's Jack O'Koniewski. Then, Bera bowed out to the University of Chicago's Peter Leung 6-0, 6-3. Notable, Bera was knocked out by one of the men's singles finalists as Leung advanced to Monday's championship match.

In doubles play, Buchan and Elkins won their first two matches by 8-1 and 8-3 scores over a tandem from Kalamazoo College and Oberlin College respectively. Then the two won four games off of the top-seeded team in the field before falling by an 8-4 count in the round of 16.

Buchan also competed in singles play and opened with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Colton Johnson Taylor from Allegheny College before dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match to Kalamazoo's Brandon Metzler, the top-seeded singles player in the 128-man field.

Wooster returns to action on Feb. 4 with a doubleheader against the University of Findlay and Heidelberg University at Findley's YMCA East Branch.
