Wooster Caps Wisconsin Trip with 7-2 Win Over Elmhurst

The College of Wooster men's tennis team dropped four or fewer games in four of the six singles matches, and only dropped four games in the two doubles matches it won during the Fighting Scots' 7-2 win over Elmhurst College on Sunday morning at Janesville, Wis.

Wooster (3-3) had the match wrapped up by the end of singles play, which kicked-off the match, as senior Davis Elkins delivering the winning point with his 6-1, 6-2 win out of the third flight. In fact, Wooster's top three singles flights dropped a combined eight games between the three matches with junior Titas Bera taking a 6-0, 6-2 decision out of the No. 1 position, and senior Jack Buchan easing his way past Elmhurst's (0-6) Brandon Fulmer 6-1, 6-2.

The Scots also picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win by first-year Nathan Devereux at No. 5 singles to pair with a 6-2, 6-4 victory that was turned in by junior Andrew Long out of the sixth flight.

In doubles action, Wooster picked up an 8-1 win from Buchan and Elkins at the No. 1 flight and an 8-3 win was turned in by Devereux and Long from the No. 2 position.

Wooster is back in action with a pair of matches next Sunday (Feb. 19) at the Lakewood Tennis Club in Lexington, Ohio. The Scots are slated to take on Capital University (1-2) at 8 a.m. before squaring off with Div. II Tiffin University (3-1) at 2:30 p.m.
