The College of Wooster men's tennis team came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead over 24th-ranked Kenyon College, and battled through a competitive singles flight before falling 6-3 to the Lords on Wednesday evening at Gambier, Ohio.

Wooster (6-15, 0-2 North Coast Athletic Conference East Division) produced wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, as seniors Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins topped Kenyon's Weston Noall and Alex Rieger 8-6 at the top spot, while junior Titas Bera and sophomore Jesse DeWitt claimed an 8-5 victory at No. 2. Kenyon defeated junior Andrew Long and first-year Nathan Devereux 8-4 in the third position.

Worth noting, with the 8-6 victory, Elkins moved into a tie for fourth-place all-time in program history in career doubles wins (58) while Buchan advanced into a tie for eighth-place in the same category with 55.

Buchan's opponent, Nicholas Paolucci, entered as the 11th-ranked singles player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Central Region.

DeWitt (3-6, 0-6) and Devereux (2-6, 3-6) fell at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, as the Lords clinched the team match with a 5-2 lead. Elkins battled through two close sets at No. 3 before falling 4-6, 4-6, while Bera, the 16th-ranked player in the region, charged back from a set down (2-6) to win the second set, 6-4, before winning the third set super-tiebreaker, 10-5.
