Scots Wrap Up 2017 Road Schedule with Loss at Regionally-Ranked Wabash

The College of Wooster men's tennis team wrapped up North Coast Athletic Conference play at cross-divisional foe Wabash College, as the Fighting Scots fell 9-0 to the Little Giants on Saturday afternoon at the Collett Tennis Center in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Senior Davis Elkins and first-year Nathan Devereux fell 8-4 at the top doubles spot to Will Reifeis and Patrick McAuley, the 13th-ranked doubles pair in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Central Region. Meanwhile, losing by 8-2 decisions were junior Titas Bera and sophomore Jesse DeWitt at No. 2, and junior Andrew Long and first-year Craig Deng in the third spot.

Wabash (11-13, 1-2 NCAC West), the 13th-ranked team in the Central Region, took down the Scots (7-17, 1-3 NCAC East) in straight sets in each of the six singles matches.

In a battle of regionally-ranked foes, 15th-ranked Bera lost 4-6, 6-7 (3) to 18th-ranked Reifeis. Also dropping in a decisive second-set tiebreaker was DeWitt at No. 3, who fell 2-6, 6-7 (4).

At No. 2, Elkins lost 1-6, 0-6 while Devereux (3-6, 3-6), Long (2-6, 0-6), and Deng (2-6, 2-6) dropped decisions at the No. 4 through No. 6 positions, respectively.

The Scots wrap up the regular season against John Carroll University (8-6, 4-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) on Sunday, April 23 at noon at D.J. Hard Tennis Courts in Wooster, Ohio.
