Scots Continue Fall Slate at Oberlin Invitational

The College of Wooster men's tennis team won nine matches on the weekend as the Fighting Scots tuned up for the upcoming Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Tournament at the Oberlin College Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Oberlin, Ohio.

First-year Jorrit de Rouw led the way on the weekend with a trio of wins, and the Scots had four other student-athletes with a pair of wins. de Rouw teamed up with senior Vilius Sulnis for an impressive 8-1 win over Ohio Northern's Jake Abbott and Connor Christian before partnering with senior Titas Bera for a thrilling 8-3 triumph over Case Western Reserve University's Earl Hsieh and Aris Jhaveri. In singles play, de Rouw was up 6-3, 2-0 before his first-round opponent retired.

Bera and Hsieh were pitted against each other in the first round of singles action, and Bera again got the better of the Spartan with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Sulnis's win came in come-from-behind fashion with a 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (4) win over Earlham College.

Sophomore Nathan Devereux also had a come-from-behind win on the weekend against Earlham 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8), and he topped Case Western Reserve's Will Grier 7-6, 0-6, 1-0 (4) on the weekend as well.

First-year Joaquin Abos Amo picked up a pair of wins in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 7-5.

Next, Wooster heads to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the ITA Regionals, held Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
