Senior Titas Bera advanced to the round of 32 and the doubles pair of Nathan Devereux and Joaquin Abos Amo put up a resilient effort en route to a quarterfinals appearance in the consolation draw, as The College of Wooster men's tennis team wrapped up fall competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Kalamazoo, Mich.

As the third-seeded singles player, Bera conceded a combined four games in his first two matches, taking down North Central College's Tyler Haizel, 6-0, 6-1, and Calvin College's Rodrigo Castellanous, 6-2, 6-1 on Friday.

In Saturday's opener against Case Western Reserve University's Sam Concannon, Bera lost the opening set, 7-5, before bouncing back with a convincing 6-1 win in the second. In the third, Concannon regained the momentum to win the three-setter, 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.

Junior Jesse DeWitt took on fellow North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Bryce McClanahan from DePauw University in the opening round on Friday, falling 6-1 in the opening set before winning a tight second set, 7-6 (6). In the third, McClanahan defeated DeWitt, 6-0. McClanahan went on to lose in the next round to ninth-seeded Austin Diehl from Kenyon College.

In the back draw, DeWitt lost 7-5, 6-0 to Joshua Yoo, a four-star first-year out of Wheaton College.

Wooster's lone doubles entry of Devereux and Abos Amo lost 8-5 in the first round to the ninth-seeded duo out of the University of Chicago, who as a program ended the 2016-17 campaign as the ninth-ranked team in the nation.

In Saturday's opening consolation match, the Scot underclassmen defeated Brendan Goldacker and Austin Perry from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 8-5. In the round of 16, Wooster topped a team from Hope College, 8-6, to advance to the quarterfinals.

Down a break at 2-5 and looking to find their rhythm, the duo fought before ultimately falling 8-4 to Franciscan University of Steubenville.

With the conclusion of the fall season, the Scots (0-1) pick up play after the New Year on Feb. 10, 2018, at Capital University.
