The College of Wooster men's tennis team concluded the 2017-18 regular season with an 8-1 defeat to the regionally-ranked Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon at Fairborn Park in Fairborn, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots (8-13, 1-2 North Coast Athletic Conference East Division) enter next weekend's NCAC Tournament on a three-match slide, with the latter two losses coming against opponents ranked within the top 20 of the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region poll.

Sophomore Nathan Devereux and first-year Joaquin Abos Amo teamed up at No. 1 doubles en route to an 8-6 victory. Junior Jesse DeWitt and senior Andrew Long fell 8-2 at No. 2, and first-year Saeed Husain and sophomore Craig Deng were swept, 8-0, at No. 3.

Devereux nearly went the distance at No. 3 singles, losing the first set 2-6 before topping Andre Adam 6-4 in the second before falling 6-0 in the decisive third set. Besides Devereux, each Scot fell in straight sets to the 16th-ranked team in the region, including Abos Amo, who fell 6-1, 6-0 to Ian Landwehr, the 18th-ranked singles player in the region.

Up next, Wooster awaits to see their opening round opponent in next weekend's NCAC Tournament, which begins Friday, April 27 at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind.
