Scots Open Dual Season with Win

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The College of Wooster men's tennis team had their first first dual match of the season Friday and defeated the University of Mount Union 8-1.

The Scots started by sweeping doubles play. Joaquin Abos Amo and Nathan Devereux won at the No. 1 flight over Robert Cross and Zach Teffner 8-2. Austin Hanna and Ben Schrock won 8-5 at the No. 2 spot, and Nebyou Minassie and Luke Borgelt took an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 flight.

In singles play, all but one flight was decided in straight sets. Abos Amo took the lone loss to Cross at the No. 1 flight 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 2, Hanna defeated Teffner 6-2, 6-3. Deveraux at No. 3 and Minassie at No. 4 won by the same 6-2, 6-3 score.

Schrock beat Tyler Tareshawty at the No. 5 flight in the three-setter 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, and at No. 6 Saeed Husain won 6-2, 6-4 over Scott Fletcher.

The Scots are 1-0 and will host Walsh at 2 p.m. Saturday.
