Wooster On Wrong End in Division I Matchup Against Northern Kentucky

COLUMBUS, Ohio --The College of Wooster men's tennis team forced four games to three sets but fell to Division I's Northern Kentucky University on Saturday by a final tally of 6-1.

Northern Kentucky improved to 3-6 with the win, while Wooster drops to .500 at 3-3.

Freshman Alon Liberman had a successful day winning in both his singles and doubles matches. However, the Norse took two of the three doubles matches to claim the one point in play.

Liberman teamed with Joaquin Abos Amo for a 7-5 win in the No. 3 flight. The No. 1 team of Austin Hanna and Nathan Deveraux and the No. 2 team of Jesse DeWitt and Nebyou Minassie each fell in 6-3 contests.

Liberman and Abos Amo fought back from a 4-1 deficit to win in their flight. Liberman had another comeback victory in the No. 4 flight, defeating Chris Murray 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Four of the six singles matches were resolved in three sets. Hanna fell 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 flight, and Abos Amo lost in the No. 2 spot 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. Minassie fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in the No. 6 flight. Devereaux fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, and DeWitt lost 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 flight.

The Scots will play another Division I foe on Sunday when they face Cleveland State University.
