Yadav Wins at Kenyon

Arnav Yadav GAMBIER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's tennis team closed out the road portion of its schedule on Sunday with an 8-1 loss at No. 30-ranked Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference action.

The Fighting Scots slip to 6-9 overall, including 0-4 in the NCAC, while the host Owls improve to 10-7 and 4-1 in the league.

Kenyon swept all three doubles matches for the early 3-0 advantage. Wooster's No. 3 tandem of first-year Anthony VanOyen and senior Alex Anikeeff had the closest result, falling 8-6. At No. 1 first-year Jay Dixit and sophomore Namit Misra lost 8-3, while at No. 2, senior Shivam Dewan and first-year Arnav Yadav dropped an 8-4 decision.

Wooster's win came at No. 3 singles where Yadav picked up a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

In other singles matches, Dixit lost his first set 6-2, before retiring at No. 1, while at No. 2 Vanoyen fell short in a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 loss. At No. 4, Dewan lost 6-4, 6-1, while Misra fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. First-year Max Stratford lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

Wooster will close out the regular season next weekend with a pair of home matches, starting with Saturday's 1 p.m. clash with Ohio Wesleyan University (6-6, 0-3 NCAC). The match is part of the program's Family Weekend.
