Scots Defeat Ozarks to Complete Spring Trip
Scots sit at 6-4 with NCAC play coming up next
The College of Wooster men's tennis team defeated the University of Ozarks, 6-1, on Monday in their final match on their week-long spring break trip.
Wooster won three 10-point tiebreakers in singles play in lieu of their win, and they opened play winning two of three doubles matches for the first point.
In the No. 1 flight, Arnav Yadav and Namit Misra fell 6-2 but Wooster won with the No. 2 and No. 3 flights. At No. 2, Anthony VanOyen and Ian Royse won 6-1, while the No. 3 team of Walker Wood and Bennett Dickerson won 7-5.
Wooster won the top five flights in singles action, starting with a 6-1, 6-1 victory from VanOyen in the No. 1 position. Royse also won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 flight.
At the No. 2 flight, Yadav needed 13 points in his tiebreaker but finished the job with a 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (11) win. At the No. 4 flight, Misra came on top 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (8), and Dickerson won in the No. 5 flight, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (5).
Wooster moves to 6-4 with the win, while Ozarks falls to 6-5.
The Scots will return home and face Denison University on March 30 in what will be their North Coast Athletic Conference opener.
