WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster started off the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a sweep over Oberlin College on Monday, as Linea Brouse delivered a walk-off hit in the first game and Jenna Kendall pitched seven innings of one-run ball in the nightcap to lead the Fighting Scots to 5-4 and 2-1 victories over the Yeowomen.

Fresh off a come-from-behind victory over Baldwin Wallace University, the Scots (10-9, 2-0 NCAC) were in the exact same situation in their first game against Oberlin (3-7, 0-2 NCAC) – down 4-0 in the second inning. And once again, Wooster rallied back to win in dramatic fashion.

First, the Scots scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning when Demi Hart and Kendall smacked RBIs, and then they tacked on another two in the fifth, with Carly Schoenstein and Georgia Hill driving in runs to tie the game at 4-4.

Wooster produced its winning-run in the bottom of the seventh after Skye Patterson led off the frame with a single and Paige Goldberg got on base from an error, which brought newcomer Brouse to the plate. Brouse took advantage of the opportunity by crushing a pitch to deep centerfield that drove in Goldberg to win the game.

Oberlin did all of its damage in the second inning, but was otherwise held in check, as Kate Edgehouse allowed just three harmless singles in the first, third, and fourth innings, and Rylee Bouillion faced only 11 batters over the final three innings, giving up one hit, to improve to 4-1 on the year.

The story in the second game was Kendall, who held Oberlin to four hits over seven innings, with two hits coming in the first frame where the Yeowomen scored their lone run.

After that, Kendall was in complete control, while Wooster's bats did just enough in the second inning, as Stephenie Little and Taylor Raybuck collected RBIs to give the Scots their 2-1 advantage. Oberlin attempted a rally in the seventh inning, but Raybuck made an impressive diving catch for the second out, and moments later, Kendall induced her sixth ground out of the game to seal the outcome.

Goldberg paced Wooster's offense on the day, going 4-for-7 with a triple and a run scored, while Brouse went 3-for-7, with all three hits coming in the lid-lifter.

The Scots will be right back at it tomorrow when they visit Wittenberg University (10-2, 0-0 NCAC) for a doubleheader that begins at 3:30 p.m.
