Junior Maddy Chase, who last week became the first player in program history to be named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region Team as a second-team utility pick, according to a release from the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Chase is the first Fighting Scot to earn a second-team selection and the fourth all-region honoree overall. With a league-leading .436 batting average, Chase posted top-five conference marks in slugging percentage (.564), on-base percentage (.477), hits (61) and runs (33), with the latter two statistical categories marking single-season program records.

From the circle, the standout junior earned 11 wins on the year while striking 90—both top two totals in the NCAC—en route to a 2.61 ERA, another top-five conference mark.

Chase's presence, however, was arguably heaviest in the batter's box, particularly against NCAC foes, as the junior batted .500 in 52 plate appearances, logging nine RBI, four doubles, and two home runs.

Notable highlights from her season include a 5-for-5 performance against Oberlin (April 11) to tie a single-game program record, as well as a two-inning, five-strikeout save to help snap then-No. 23 Wittenberg's 14-game winning streak (April 25).

In a must-win doubleheader sweep over Ohio Wesleyan (April 28), Chase went 5-for-8 with two RBI and two runs to help earn the Scots' first postseason berth since 2012, where less than a week later, Chase pitched a 4-0 shutout win over the top-seeded Tigers while going 2-for-4 from the plate in the tournament opener.

Wooster (20-23, 10-6 NCAC) turned in its highest conference- and regular-season win totals in five years and finished the conference campaign with a two-win improvement over last year.
