Rumph to Compete on Softball Canada's Women's National Team in Upcoming Exhibition Series, International Tournaments

Wooster softball head coach Victoria Rumph will be in Northeast Ohio next week as a member of Softball Canada's Women's National Team.

Victoria Rumph, The College of Wooster softball program's head coach, will be on the roster of Softball Canada's Women's National Team when it comes to Akron, Ohio next week for a trio of tune-up games against the Akron Racers in advance of a pair of upcoming international tournaments. Rumph's slated to be with the Women's National Team as an alternate for the ninth Pan American Championship, held in the Dominican Republic from August 4-13, and on the active roster for the Japan Cup, held August 25-28.

"I am extremely lucky and honored to have the opportunity to represent Canada while playing the sport that I love," said Rumph. "There is no better feeling than stepping on to the field with Canada across my chest and competing with my teammates against the world's greatest softball players. I am grateful for all of the support from family, friends, and The College of Wooster as I continue to take steps forward in my softball career."

Rumph, who started her summer on Softball Canada's Elite Team, hit .409 (9-for-22) while scoring five runs over six games at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship. In fact, the Elite Team squared off against the Women's National Team at the tournament, and Rumph went 2-for-3 with a run in the contest, and she was the lone Elite Team player with a multi-hit game against the National Team.

A member of Softball Canada's National Team since 2013, Rumph was part of the silver medal team at the Pan American Softball Championship in her first year on the team. She's also competed for Canada in the World Cup of Softball, the Canadian Open, and was an alternate and bullpen catcher for the 2015 team that won the gold medal at the Pan American Games.

Rumph, and her Canadian teammates are set to square off against the Akron Racers at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, July 31 and in a 5:35 p.m. twin bill on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Tickets can be purchased online here.
