In the opener, Ohio Northern (15-3) capitalized on a four-run second inning while holding Wooster to two total hits, which were tallied by first-year Heidi Likins and junior Chelsea Copley.

Copley's fifth-inning double broke up Kaitlin Surdej's no-hit bid before Likins tacked on a seventh-inning single against the seven-game winner.

In the nightcap, Wooster senior Maddy Chase pitched 4.1 innings before switching to first base for first-year Marissa Norgrove, who closed out the game's remainder with one run allowed.

Down 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Fighting Scots (7-11) threatened after Copley ripped a double down the left-field line to advance sophomore Marina Roski to third, who reached two batters earlier on a throwing error from third base. From there, Ohio Northern's Kirsten Lightel forced sophomore Morgan Bailey into a 6-3 groundout to end the inning.

Up next, Wooster opens its North Coast Athletic Conference schedule against reigning conference tournament champion DePauw University (4-14) for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 at Galpin Park, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
