Sophomore Morgan Bailey recorded a career-high four RBI in an opening 5-1 victory for The College of Wooster softball team, as the Fighting Scots went on the split the road doubleheader against the Kenyon College Ladies on Sunday afternoon at Gambier, Ohio.

In the opener, senior Maddy Chase earned her second win of the season after going a full seven innings with six strikeouts and three hits allowed. The victory marked Chase's 31st career win, as she now stands one shy of 2013 alumna Gina Pirolozzi for fourth-most all-time.

With both teams scoreless through five, Bailey broke the drought with an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning as part of a 2-for-4 showing.

After a leadoff single from sophomore Marina Roski, first-year Heidi Likins drew a walk to advance Roski into scoring position with no outs down. Then, sophomore Samantha Tromba, who pinch ran for Roski, scored on the ensuing single from Bailey.

The Ladies (16-12, 2-4 North Coast Athletic Conference) answered in the bottom of half of the inning on a solo home run from Madi Maldonado.

In the seventh, Chase singled from the leadoff position and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from first-year Emmalee Cooke. After a wild pitch brought Chase to third, Roski singled through the left side to tally the game-winning RBI.

Up next, junior Chelsea Copley drew a walk to put runners at first and second before Likins reached on an error at short to load the bases. Bailey, who opened the game's scoring just an inning prior, unloaded the bases with a three-run double.

Chase struck out the side to end the game, and overall, proved nearly unhittable after hurling 72 strikes on 101 total pitches.

In game two, Kenyon built a 5-0 lead through the first two innings and did not look back despite Wooster (9-15, 2-4 NCAC) cutting the deficit to two with two innings left to play.

With Chase on at first in the top of the third, Cooke stepped up with her second triple of the season to get the Scots on the board before eventually scoring herself after a single from Roski.

Chase added a solo homer – the third of her career and first of the season – in the top half of the fifth to make it a 5-3 Kenyon advantage, but the Ladies tacked on a trio of runs in the sixth to cement the lead and the series split.

First-year Olivia Johnson earned the start in the nightcap, last 1.2 innings before classmate Marissa Norgrove subbed in, going 4.1 innings with four strikeouts.

Up next, Wooster continues conference play with a home doubleheader against Oberlin College (5-15, 1-5 NCAC) on Tuesday, April 10, starting at 3:30 p.m.
