Scots Rally From Five Down To Win in Extras

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The College of Wooster softball team split their two games on Sunday, highlighted by an 11-10 comeback win in nine innings against Spalding University in game one.

In game two, they fell to 20th-ranked Transylvania University 6-0.

Things got exciting in the seventh inning of game one with the Scots down 7-2.

Wooster managed to load the bases with nobody out, and after scoring a couple runs, senior Kaydee Clark hit a two-out bases clearing double to tie the game at 7.

From there, the game went to extra innings with both teams scoring two runs in the eighth, including a two-run home run by Spalding's Bella Velez.

Yet, Wooster stay persistent with another two-run inning in the ninth as Julia Jennings and Lynnsey Delio recorded RBI singles.

Delio then returned to the mound and allowed just one run in the bottom of the inning for the win.

In the end, the Scots tallied 17 hits, led by a 3 of 5, two RBI performance from Jennings. Clark, Delio and Ella Wolff each had a double.

Delio pitched the final 4.2 innings to collect the win.

In game two, Transylvania scored all the runs in just two innings with two in the second and four in the third. They benefited with a leadoff double in the second, while in the third, another double made it 5-0.

Wooster collected six hits.

Next, the Scots (2-2) will prepare for their 10-game spring break trip down in Florida. They start that trip on March 11 with two games.
