GRANVILLE – The College of Wooster softball team opened North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a split against Denison University.

In game two, Wooster scored two in the opening inning. They played some small ball as three bunts created two runs. Jennings and Clark each brought home a run that way.

Everything after that was forgettable as Denison lit up Wooster's pitching with six runs in the first, three in the second and four in the fourth. Denison hit three home runs in the game, two coming off the bat of Annabelle Calderon.

Denison (14-8, 3-1 NCAC) pitcher Sydney Silverstein pitched the complete five innings for the win. Emma Hetkey and Jennings led the Scots offense with two runs each.

Wooster moves to 10-14 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. They will have to bounce back quickly as they host Oberlin College on Sunday.
