The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams rebounded from yesterday's split against the University of Mount Union with decisive victories over Ohio Wesleyan University, as the men prevailed, 128-86, and the women won, 160-74, on Saturday afternoon at Pfeiffer Natatorium in Delaware, Ohio.

On the women's side, the Fighting Scots placed first in 10 events, highlighted by triple-winner Emma Fikse, who put in winning efforts in the 1000 freestyle (10:58.95) and 500 freestyle (5:18.47) before teaming up with senior Jamie Hibbs, junior Maggie Layde and first-year Avery Pearson for a first-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay (3:46.86).

Aside from Fikse, four Wooster women finished with double-win honors, as Hibbs tacked on a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (55.59), while Layde hit the wall first at 2:16.94 in the 200 butterfly. In the diving events, sophomore Morgan Day claimed first-place on the one- and three-meter boards with respective six-dive scores of 192.15 and 202.20.

Rounding out the double-winners was first-year Alison Hsu, who put in a winning effort in the 200 individual medley (2:20.16) and 200 backstroke (2:17.10).

Springing onto the scene was first-year Nell Kacmarek, who won the 200 freestyle with a 2:01.68 to lead the top-three Wooster trio, along with Anna McGlade (2:04.43) and Mady Ferguson (2:07.59).

First-year Trey Schopen highlighted the men's outing with a personal-best 1:54.56 in the 200 butterfly, marking nearly a two-second improvement upon his previous top time to move him into fifth-place on the program's top-10 list. The current record holder in that event, sophomore Garrett Layde, claimed first-place in the 200 individual medly (2:02.56) before teaming up with sophomores Cameron Gelwicks, Ryan Campbell and Griffin Campbell for a winning effort in the 400 freestyle relay (3:14.68).

Both Campbells, along with Schopen and senior Conner Gelwicks came from behind to edge Ohio Wesleyan by two hundredths-of-a-second (3:36.23) and win the 400 medley relay. Gelwicks led a Wooster trio in the 200 backstroke (2:02.45), rounded out by first-years Eli Samuelson and Hunter Pierson, while sophomore Max Koch won the 1000 freestyle in 10:09.93.

Senior diver Aaron Salzman recorded a six-dive score of 150.25 in the one-meter dive.

The Scots return home in a dual meet against John Carroll University on Friday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Timken Natatorium.
