Fikse Reels In NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week Honor

Sophomore Emma Fikse of The College of Wooster earned the women's swimming and diving North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete-of-the-Week honor, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Fikse played a big role in leading the women's team to a 138-99 win over the University of Mount Union on Friday and a 160-74 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday with three wins in each meet.

Against Mount Union, Fikse won the 100 and 200 freestyles with times of 55.06 and 1:59.44 respectively, and led off the winning 200 freestyle relay that touched at 1:44.11.

On Saturday, Fikse turned her attention toward the longer freestyle events and was victorious in the 500- and 1000-yard races with times of 5:18.47 and 10:58.95 respectively. Then, Fikse turned in a 55.36 leadoff leg as part of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:46.86).

Fikse is the first women's swimmer to be recognized with the league's weekly honor since Courtney McGovern on Nov. 10, 2014.

Wooster is back in action with a 5:30 p.m. dual meet against John Carroll University on Friday.
