The College of Wooster swimming & diving teams sent their seniors out in style as both meets came down to the 400 freestyle relay, and the Fighting Scots emerged victorious in both to top John Carroll University 127-110 on the men's side and 125-116 on the women's side on Friday evening at Timken Gymnasium.

The final event of the night started with senior Jamie Hibbs, junior Maggie Layde, first-year Nell Kacmarek, and sophomore Emma Fikse teaming up to clinch the victory with a time of 3:42.72, 1.7 seconds better than John Carroll's top relay quartet.

On the men's side, the all-sophomore relay consisting of Ryan Campbell, Cameron Gelwicks, Max Koch, and Garrett Layde clocked in at 3:14.25, and the quartet of sophomore Griffin Campbell, first-year Trey Schopen, sophomore Ric Reynolds, and senior Aaron Brown backed that up with a time of 3:20.52 to help close out the Blue Streaks with a one-two finish in the men's 400 freestyle relay.

Shifting back to the women's meet, Fikse, the reigning North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Athlete-of-the-Week emerged as a triple-winner for the third straight time in as many meets in January. First, the sophomore turned in the ninth-fastest 1000 freestyle time at 10:54.87, nearly 50 seconds ahead second-place Alex Iouse's time of 11:41.58. Later in the meet, Fikse hit the deck at 54.59 in the 100 freestyle, prior to anchoring the 400 freestyle relay.

Switching to the diving well, senior Theresa Spadola and sophomore Morgan Day finished one-two on the one-meter board with scores of 234.50 and 198.20 respectively. Spadola doubled up on first-place honors on the three-meter board at 211.05 points with Day taking third at 183.85.

Other winners on the women's side included Layde in the 200 butterfly (2:16.53) and senior Anna McGlade in the 500 freestyle (5:22.52).

In the men's meet, Schopen continued his banner freshman season and turned in the pool record in the 200 butterfly with the winning time of 1:56.49.

Senior Aaron Salzman captured first in the one-meter diving event, and nearly earned a spot at the regional competition, coming within three points (272.20) of his second NCAA Div. III qualifying standard (275 points for six dives). On the three-meter board, Salzman finished second with 211.40 points.

Cameron Gelwicks, Ryan Campbell, and Koch all emerged as double winners with the first-place times of 1:46.84 in the 200 freestyle, 4:53.85 in the 500 freestyle, and 10:10.11 in the 1000 freestyle respectively. Senior Conner Gelwicks rounded out the winners with a time of 1:59.86 in the 200 backstroke.

Notable, the highly-competitive meet only featured five events (three mens, two womens) where one of the programs featured the top two finishers.
