Becker, Bream Quadruple Winners at Mount Union

Maddie Becker, Wooster Swimming & Diving ALLIANCE, Ohio – Senior Maddie Becker and junior Ollie Bream won four events each to lead The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving program to its 24th consecutive dual meet victory. Wooster's women beat host University of Mount Union 164-132, while the men fell 182-118 on Saturday afternoon.

Becker and Bream were immediately in the win column, aided by juniors Izzy Bellefleur and Hallie Findlan, who all teamed up for the winning time of 4:10.74 in the 400 medley relay. Becker went 1:02.31 to win the 100 backstroke and came in at the head of the class in the 200 breaststroke, where the winning time of 2:33.49 was backed up by Bellefleur's 2:38.62. Becker capped the meet as the leadoff leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay, where sophomore Patricia Chen, junior JP Timken, and Findlan followed on the way to a time of 1:43.09.

Bream's further successes came individually, claiming first-place in the 200 butterfly (2:12.82), 100 butterfly (1:00.98), and 400 individual medley (4:49.41). Wooster's point haul from Bream's events was significant, with first-year Becca Murray claiming runner-up in the 200 butterfly (2:21.58) and sophomore Emma Humbert doing likewise in the 400 individual medley (5:00.31).

Wooster swept the podium spots in the 1,000 freestyle. Timken's 11:14.42 was followed by first-year Kate Peck's 11:24.85 and sophomore Lacey Mindock's 11:28.79. Other winners on the women's side included Bellefleur in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.26), Findlan in the 50 freestyle (25.25), and Humbert in the 200 backstroke (2:17.38).

Wooster's infusion of divers helped the men's team to 30 points. Wooster claimed the top three spots in the second portion of the one-meter diving competition. There, sophomore Leo Edmonds-Doberenz scored 221.60 points, and that total was followed by first-year Chris Caldwell's 189.9 points and sophomore Blu Catanzaro's 166.95 points. In the first one-meter event, Catanzaro claimed first-place with 136.1 points, while Caldwell was right behind with 122.8 points.

Junior Tucker Andrewjeski was Wooster's top swimmer, taking top honors in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.11) and 400 individual medley (4:24.98). Junior Isaac Shaker backed Andrewjeski's winning 400 individual medley time up with a 4:25.73. Sophomore Boston Sullivan was Wooster's final winner, taking the 100 breaststroke at 1:02.54.

Next, Wooster hosts Westminster College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11.
