Bream, Findlan Winners On Day 1 of Wooster Invite

The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams hosted the first day of the Wooster Invitational on Thursday where the women finished the day third of 10 teams and the men fourth of eight.

Junior Ollie Bream gave Wooster its first win of the invite, taking the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.28. She held off first-year Alicja Sedlak from the University of Cumberlands who finished in 2:07.60.

Bream was just .02 off from her best time from 2022, which is currently second in the program record books. Bream entered the race after finishing third in the prelims at 2:11.04.

Maddie Becker came in fifth in the event at 2:11.29.

Junior Hallie Findlan entered as the favorite in the 50 free after topping the prelims (24.30), and she held true to give the women its second win. She came in at 24.16 to take the event.

The women's 200 free relay team of Findlan, Becker, Patricia Chen and Charlotte Helm finished third in 1:39.58. Later, the 400 medley team followed with another third place finishing in 4:02.22 behind the team of Tara McGovern, Becker, Bream and Findlan.

Elsewhere, Emma Connors swam a 5:21.71 in the 500-yard free prelims and improved a couple seconds in the finals (5:19.36) for seventh.

On the men's side, the 400 yard medley relay team of Max LikinsBoston SullivanJosh Pearson and Callum Glover took third in 3:27.42.

Glover finished fifth (21.23) in the 50 free after coming in third in the prelims (21.16).

His prelim time moved him from ninth to seventh in the program's record books in the event.

Will Laubacher moved up a couple spots from his prelim spot in the 500 free, taking sixth with a time of 4:49.00.

Tucker Andrewjeski placed seventh in the 200 IM. He had near identical times between his prelim (1:56.79) and his final run (1:56.84).

Cumberlands has the early lead on the women's (574) and men's (663.5) rankings. The Wooster women have 399 points, and the men have 280.5.

The second day of the invite kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday with prelims, 2 p.m with diving and 6 p.m. finals.
