Three student-athletes from The College of Wooster track &
field teams competed at Friday’s Gator Invitational, hosted
by Allegheny College. The meet featured individuals from 45
schools, spanning all NCAA divisions and NAIA, as competitors
attempted to improve or reach qualifying marks for their respective
national meets.
Highlighting Wooster’s results were triple jumpers Eric Dyer,
Tristan Jordan, and Kayla Miller. Dyer and Jordan had already
provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships and
weren’t able to improve on their earlier performance, but
still were among the top-eight in the highly-competitive field.
Dyer placed fourth with a mark of 13.80 meters and Jordan was right
behind in sixth at 13.74 meters.
Miller, who provisionally qualified for the Div. III meet last
year, improved on her season-best mark Friday, hitting 10.76 meters
for sixth-place overall in the women’s field, but it
won’t be enough to put her in the NCAA field.
Dyer and Jordan are expecting to land invites, as they entered this
weekend with the eighth- (14.30 meters) and 13th-best jumps (14.26
meters), respectively, in Div. III this season.
