Scots Take Part in Non-Scoring Lynchburg Invite

During the final weekend of spring break, the College of Wooster outdoor track & field teams competed in the non-scoring Lynchburg Invitational this past Saturday (March 22).

On the women’s side, Wooster had a number of top performances, led by KateLynn Riley’s third-place showing in the 100-meter hurdles (15.99), while teammate Suzanne Capehart sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter run, covering the distance in 5:04.78. Jessica Yarmosky also picked up a 10th-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:36.56).

Wooster had success in the field events, as Sara Wiswell cleared 8 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault competition for fifth, while Kayla Miller and Elizabeth Wardrop tied for sixth in the high jump (4 feet 8 inches). Rounding out the top-ten finishes for the Scots was Katie Dale, who finished sixth in the shot put (37 feet 2 inches) and ninth in the discuss (105 feet, 5 inches), respectively.

In men’s action, Averell Gatton picked up two individual top-ten finishes for Wooster. He took fifth in the high jump clearing the bar at 6 feet, 1 inch, and followed that up with a ninth-place showing in the triple jump (40 feet 6 inches). Sean Twining was strong in the high jump with a sixth-place jump of 5 feet, 9 inches. Racking up top-ten marks were Eric Dyer in sixth in the triple jump (43 feet, 5 inches) and Robert McConnell in fifth in the pole vault (12 feet, 5 inches).

Next, Wooster returns north to host its lone meet of the spring – the Wooster Invitational – this Saturday at 11 a.m.
