Sophomore KateLynn Riley and senior Ashley Baker represented the
College of Wooster in the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference
Heptathlon competition held Saturday and Sunday at Oberlin College.
Riley placed sixth this weekend with 3,698 points, while Baker
wound up in eighth accumulating 2,675 points.
Starting the two-day event off in a strong way, Riley finished in a
tie for first in the 100 meter hurdles (16.02). She also
finished second in the javelin throw (101 feet, 4 inches), third in
the long jump (15 feet, 7 inches), and fifth in the shot put (27
feet, 4.5 inches). Additionally, she stopped the clock in sixth
place in both the 200 meter dash (28.46), and the 800 meter run
(2:46.15), while she leapt to a seventh-place showing in the high
jump (4 feet, 6 inches).
Baker’s best showing of the weekend came in the high jump,
where she nipped Riley for sixth place with a leap of 4 feet, 7
inches. She also placed seventh in the shot put (21 feet, 10.25
inches), and long jump (13 feet, 11 inches), while taking eighth in
the 100 meter hurdles (19.38), 200 meter dash (30.42), the javelin
throw (71 feet, 3 inches), and the 800 meter run (3:01.01).
As a team, the Scots will be in action on Thursday and Friday this
week, where they will take part in the 2008 NCAC Championships in
Delaware, Ohio.
