For the third time in four meets this winter, The College of Wooster track & field team broke a school record, this time sophomore Paris Nahas doing so in the women's 60-meter dash as the Fighting Scots competed at Denison University's Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday.

Wooster was without a couple of its top contributors, but still competed well among a group of eight highly-competitive Ohio schools, as the women's team placed fifth and the men sixth.

After sprinting to the finish in 8.36 seconds during the prelims, Nahas was even faster in the 60-meter finals. She went down the track in 8.30, four-hundredths of a second faster than Stephanie McShane's previous Wooster standard. Nahas wasn't the only Scot athlete in the event, as freshman Kennedy Payne joined her and the teammates crossed fifth and sixth (8.35), respectively.

Nahas had an even higher placement in the 200 meters, taking runner-up honors in 27.44, and Edith Anderson complemented her in that one with a fourth-place run (27.60). Both of them were part of the winning 4x200-meter relay team (1:52.01), which also consisted of seniors Tricia Hall and Kara Johnson.

Another track event in which Wooster had multiple scorers was the 60-meter hurdles, with Amy French and Taryn Szalay coming in sixth (9.68) and seventh (9.84), respectively, and also scoring were Ashley Huddson in the 400 meters (1:04.62), Lauren Buyan in the 800 (2:30.30), and Emily Reid in the 5000 (19:58.47).

In the field, French was the runner-up in the triple jump (32 feet, 5.75 inches), Jocelyn Lion notched third-place in the pole vault (9 feet, 0.25 inches) and seventh in the long jump (15 feet, 5 inches), an event that saw teammate Katie Cameron take fifth (15 feet, 11 inches).

For the Scots' men's team, David Brew highlighted the meet as he emerged the winner out of a field of 32 competitors in the 800 meters (1:58.52), and Morgan Clark also earned first-place points for the team in the 5000 meters (15:59.30).

Matt Margida earned fourth-place out of 26 throwers in the shot put (48 feet, 2.75 inches), while Roy Hadfield also scored in the 800 via a sixth-place run (2:02.43).

On Sunday, Wooster will have a representative in action, as Hilary Coady will compete in the pentathlon of the All-Ohio Championships.
