Hilary Coady of The College of Wooster finished in fifth-place during the All-Ohio Championships heptathlon competition, which took place at the University of Mount Union Saturday and Sunday in Alliance, Ohio.

Coady, a sophomore, displayed significant progress in the multi-event competition, as she totaled 4,029 points, an improvement of more than 250 from her lone heptathlon last spring.

On day one, Coady's top event was the 100 hurdles as she had the third-fastest time among the 13 competitors (16.03), then she cleared 4 feet, 10.25 inches in the high jump, tossed the shot put 29 feet, 6.75 inches, and sprinted to a time of 28.24 in the 200 meters.

Coady finished the heptathlon on a strong note, recording the second-best time in the 800 meters, with the 2:24.48 good for 764 points, and earlier during the second day, she went 15 feet, 7 inches in the long jump and threw the javelin 82 feet, 7 inches.

Coady's fifth-place points will go toward Wooster's team total at next week's All-Ohio meet.
