It was an impressive debut for The College of Wooster's Savannah Moore, as she broke a school record in her first-ever meet with the women's track and field team, on her way to North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete-of-the-Week honors.

Moore, who transferred to Wooster from Baldwin Wallace University, and became a key contributor on the Fighting Scots' volleyball team in the fall, made a similarly strong impact over the weekend for the track and field team.

Despite practicing for the first time on Monday, Moore competed just days later at the Fighting Scots Invitational and was immediately a factor in both throwing events.

First in the weight throw, Moore placed third with a heave of 42 feet, 10.75 inches, which shattered the program's previous record by more than five feet (37 feet, 9.5 inches).

Then in the shot put, Moore took second-place in a field of 13 student-athletes with 37 feet, 8.5 inches. That was nearly a school record as well, as her throw was less than three feet away from Wooster's top mark (40 feet, 6.25 inches).

Moore will look to carry over her momentum into this Saturday's Denison Invitational.
