The College of Wooster's men's and women's track and field teams represented well at the NCAA Div. III All-Ohio Championships, as the Fighting Scots combined for six top-six finishes on Saturday at the Clements Recreation Center in Westerville, Ohio.

Sophomore distance runner Blake Pecoraro excelled in the 3000 meters, as he crossed the finish line fourth out of 16 with a time of 8:52.42 – less than four seconds off the school record pace (8:48.82).

Another distance standout, senior Joe David, was about a second away from sixth-place in the 5000 meters, but had to settle for eighth (15:37.75) in a tightly-packed group.

Also contributing towards the men's 10 points, which tied them for 16th overall in the Buckeye State, was junior thrower Matt Margida, who placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 47 feet, 10.5 inches.

The women were 11th of 19 teams with 22 points, and Paris Nahas and Hilary Coady were a big reason why. Nahas once again reset her own school record in the 200 meters, this time in 26.18, which was third best in the event and good for six team points. The junior speedster also could have factored into the 60 meters, but she missed qualifying for the finals by a fraction of a second.

Nahas wasn't done, though, as she joined forces with Coady, Taryn Szalay, and Lissette Torres for a sixth-place showing in the 4x200 relay (1:48.28).

Coady, who earned Wooster six points last weekend by finishing third in the All-Ohio pentathlon, added more points today with a fifth-place effort in the 60-meter hurdles (9.40).

Rounding out the group was senior Lauren Buyan, who covered the mile run in 5:23.54, which netted her sixth-place honors.

The Scots will compete in the Kenyon Classic next weekend as a final tune-up for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
