During its annual spring break training trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., The College of Wooster men's and women's track & field teams competed in the non-scoring Coastal Carolina Invitational, held Friday and Saturday, as the Fighting Scots kicked off their outdoor season among a large group of schools spanning all NCAA divisions.

In the women's meet, Wooster's highest finishers were Mackenzie Kellar and Brigid O'Hara, as they each produced third-place efforts, Kellar doing so out of a field of 39 competitors in the 800 meters (2:27.30) and O'Hara ending up in that position after 24 participants ran the 400 (1:04.64).

Taryn Szalay posted a fourth-place showing among the 24 in the 100 hurdles (16.01) while adding a seventh in the 200 meters (27.51), and in the field, top-10 performers were jumpers Katie Cameron and Elizabeth Obi, who earned sixth out of 38 in the long jump (16 feet, 3.75 inches) and seventh of 18 in the triple (34 feet, 5.75 inches), respectively.

The Scots had a couple entrants in seeded events, with Paris Nahas sprinting to 15th in the 200 (26.17) and 26th in the 100 (12.81). There were 48 competitors in the 200 and 55 in the 100, while teammate Jocelyn Lion covered the 400 hurdles in 1:08.74, good for 17th among 27 seeds.

Wooster's men's team was highlighted by its distance runners, as Alex Chabraja was the runner-up in the 10,000 meters (33:39.58), Blake Pecoraro finished 11th out of a field of 48 in the 5000 (15:49.00), and Jairaj Ranchod was fourth-fastest among 51 in the 800 (2:00.21).

Conor Maley led the way in the field via a ninth-place effort in the long jump (19 feet, 3.5 inches).

The Scots will return home soon and the full squad will prep for the annual Wooster Invitational, set for March 27-28.
