The College of Wooster held its own competing against mostly NCAA Div. II schools on Saturday, as the women and men placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the seven-team Bob Kahn Invitational, which was held at Oberlin College on Robert Kahn Track and Fred Shults Field.

The Fighting Scots weren't able to win any events with Div. II Tiffin University's strong track and field programs a notch above the competition, but Wooster wasn't far behind at times.

Hilary Coady made her mark for the women's team, as she placed second in the javelin throw (95 feet, 3 inches) and fourth in the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches). Also earning a runner-up finish was Lauren Buyan, who was just three seconds out of first-place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:56.34.

Another key contributor was Elizabeth Obi, as she stood out in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5 feet, 1 inch, which was good for third-place, and also took fourth in the triple jump (32 feet, 6.5 inches).

Also noteworthy, Lucy Cummins claimed third in the pole vault with an 8 foot, 6.25-inch effort.

The men's team had three headliners, as Conor Maley, Matt Margida, and Evan Pannell each placed second in an event. Maley's came in the javelin throw (137 feet, 7 inches), while Margida gave his second-place showing in the discus throw (137 feet, 4 inches). Meanwhile, Pannell recorded a long jump of 21 feet, 6.75 inches, which was just a few inches off Tiffin's Patrick Arizmendi (22 feet, 0.75 inches).

Jairaj Ranchod was also impressive, as he finished fourth of 16 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.54. In addition, Tyler Catlin added six inches to his program record in the hammer throw (150 feet, 6 inches).

Next Saturday, some of the Scots' finest student-athletes will compete at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio.
