Hilary Coady's athletic versatility was on display once again this weekend, as The College of Wooster's junior track & field standout put together a performance in the heptathlon at the multi-event portion of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships that could qualify her for nationals again. She accumulated 4,442 points – the 13th-highest score in the most up-to-date NCAA Div. III rankings – good for runner-up among NCAC competitors for the second consecutive season.

Noteworthy, Coady's total was just nine points shy of her career high, set at the 2014 NCAC heptathlon, but she got to that similar number in a slightly different way.

Coady started out very strong, finishing first in the 100 hurdles with a 15.27 time and also leading all competitors in the high jump at 5 feet, 2.5 inches. She added a shot put throw of 32 feet, 9.5 inches and a long sprint of 26.50 seconds in the 200 meters, thus improving in all four day-one events from last spring.

Coady's second day featured a victory during the final event, as she edged her conference and national rival from Denison University in a photo finish of the 800 meters, 2:24.332 to 2:24.338. She also hit marks of 15 feet, 2.75 inches in the long jump and 85 feet in the javelin.

In the decathlon, the Fighting Scots' Conor Maley came in sixth-place, which will contribute some important team points to the NCAC Championships meet. The sophomore scored 4,557, an event-high 593 coming in the 100 meters (12.30). Other highlights for him included fourth-place efforts in the long jump (18 feet, 6.5 inches), 400 meters (55.82), javelin (119 feet, 6 inches).

Coady and Maley will be joined by the rest of their teammates this Friday and Saturday at Delaware, Ohio, for the NCAC Championships.
