The College of Wooster men's and women's track & field teams each finished in second-place Saturday afternoon, as the Fighting Scots made their 2016 home debut at the Scot Center by hosting a North Coast Athletic Conference quadrangular meet.

The final scores were similar, with Ohio Wesleyan University edging Wooster 151-124, followed by Allegheny College (113) and Kenyon College (55) in the women's competition, and the Battling Bishops scoring 179 to the Fighting Scots' 121, Allegheny's 80, and Kenyon's 52 in the men's meet.

Headlining Wooster's results were Paris Nahas and Carolyn Webster, as they both were double-event winners. Nahas sprinted ahead of the pack in the 60 and 200 meters, with her time of 8.24 in the former being about fourth-tenths of a second faster than the nearest of eight competitors and a 26.65 in the latter that consisted of a field of 23. Notable, Nahas's 26.65 time was approximately eight-tenths of a second faster at the same event last season.

Webster, a reigning NCAC Athlete of the Week, swept the high jump (5 feet, 2.25 inches) and long jump (17 feet, 1.5 inches) while also competing in the 60-meter hurdles. It was her last attempt in the long jump that vaulted her into first-place of the 10 participants.

The Scot women swept the jumping events, as Elizabeth Obi added a win in the triple jump (33 feet, 3.25 inches). She earned third-place in the high jump (4 feet, 11.75 inches), and Hilary Coady was third in the long jump (16 feet, 4.25 inches).

Additional top-three efforts consisted of Julia Higgins taking runner-up in the 800 meters (2:37.81), Emani Kelley notching third in a closely-contested 400-meter run (1:03.69) as she was just 0.46 seconds shy of the champion's time, and Kennedy Payne complementing Nahas with a third in the 60 (8.63).

Standing out during the men's meet for Wooster were runners Alex Chabraja and Brian Lief among others. Chabraja dominated the 5000 meters in 15:36.22, a very strong time for so early in the year, while Lief emerged as the winner in the 800 meters with a 2:04.51 mark.

A series of runner-up performances in the field events also helped vault the Scots into second-place in the team standings. Jarret Art continued his strong early track career with a long jump of 19 feet, 9 inches, and throwers Matt Margida and Tyler Catlin posted similar marks of 43 feet, 11.25 inches and 43 feet, 9 inches, respectively, albeit in different events. Margida's came in the shot put and Catlin's in the weight throw.

Another notable performance came from sprinter Ben Kingstone, who came away with fifth-place in the 60 (7.29) and seventh-place in the 200 meters (24.01) among a crowded field of contenders in those events.

Wooster will have another home meet next Saturday, the annual Fighting Scots Invitational.
