Coady, Nahas Earn All-Ohio Certificates to Highlight Scots' Contingent at All-Ohio Championships

Senior Hilary Coady earned a pair of All-Ohio certificates, including a first-place one in her specialty – the 400-meter hurdles – and Paris Nahas broke a school record set back in 1988 as The College of Wooster track & field teams placed 10th on the women's side and 17th in the men's competition at the Div. III All-Ohio Championships held at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday.

Ohio Wesleyan paced the 19-team field finishing with 163 points on the men's side and 122 points in the women's rankings. The University of Mount Union (121 points) and Ohio Northern University (105.5 points) rounded out the top-three on the men's side. In the women's meet, Oberlin College finished at 98 points, one point better than third-place Otterbein University.

Coady really delivered a big-meet performance in the 400 hurdles where she clocked in at 1:02.49 to take first, and edge out rival Aedin Brennan (1:03.84) from Denison University and 20 other competitors. Of note, Coady's time is currently the fifth-fastest for the season in Div. III.

Earlier in the day, Coady picked up All-Ohio honors in the 100-meter hurdles, placing third at 14.98.

Nahas backed Coady up with an All-Ohio certificate in the 400 meters. The senior placed third at 57.71, besting W Association Hall of Famer Stephanie Kazmierski's 1988 school-record clip of 58.02. In fact, Nahas now holds six school records (four indoor, two outdoor).

Coady and Nahas later combined with Emani Kelley and Julia Higgins to take fifth in the 4x400 relay. Wooster's quartet crossed at 3:59.77, missing All-Ohio honors by under one second.

Carolyn Webster joined Coady and Nahas as a multi-event scorer at the All-Ohio meet. The first-year cleared 5 feet, 1.75 inches in the high jump to take sixth, and earlier in the day, placed eighth in the long jump at 17 feet, 0.5 inches.

Other scoring performances were turned in by Shar Hankerson who was sixth in the triple jump, and Nahas who was eighth in the 200 meters.

Freshman John Petrecca led the way on the men's side. The jumps specialist upped his outdoor high jump career-best to 6 feet, 4 inches and placed fifth.

Tyler Catlin continued to perform at a high level in the hammer. Catlin, who upped his school record to 161 feet, 1 inch at the Wooster Invitational two weeks ago, nearly matched it with his top heave of the day coming in at 158 feet, 7 inches, a mark good for sixth-place honors.

On the track, junior Blake Pecoraro led the way completing the grueling 10000 meters at an eighth-place clip of 34:42.34.

Matt Margida was right there in both the shot put and discus finishing just outside of the scoring picture by just over 2 feet in the shot put and 4 feet in the discus.

Next, Wooster returns home one final time for the Wooster Quad on Tuesday. The Scots will host Denison University, Kenyon College, and Ohio Wesleyan University.
