The College of Wooster men's and women's track & field teams made their final preparations for next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships by taking part in Friday's un-scored Big Red Invitational at Granville, Ohio.

The majority of the conference schools were at the meet, with Allegheny College, host Denison University, Kenyon College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Wittenberg, and Wooster all competing for individual honors.

The Fighting Scots stood out in the field events, particularly on the men's side. John Petrecca won the high jump, clearing a personal-best 6 feet, 6 inches, Tyler Catlin upped his own school record in the hammer throw to 163 feet while taking runner-up honors out of 18 participants, and Christian Golden hit a mark of 20 feet, 1.75 inches for first-place in the long jump. Golden also was third in the triple (40 feet, 10.5 inches).

Headlining Wooster's results on the track was Brian Lief's win in the 1500 meters as he outraced 14 others to the line in 4:07.79. Also of note, Justin Fox sprinted to fourth-place in the 100 (11.83) and Jackson Feinknopf took fourth in the 3000 (9:16.96).

In women's action, Carolyn Webster continued her strong rookie season with victories in the high jump (5 feet, 1.75 inches) and the triple jump (34 feet, 7 inches), the latter being a new addition to her repertoire. Also, she earned second in the long jump (17 feet, 1.5 inches).

Emani Kelley was a winner on the track, pacing the field in the 1500 meters (5:07.77), just ahead of runner-up and teammate Mackenzie Kellar (5:08.19).

Other strong performances included Elizabeth Obi backing up Webster in the triple (33 feet, 7.25 inches), Julia Higgins's second-place showing in the 400 hurdles (1:10.76), and Taryn Sazlay's third-place effort in the 100 hurdles (16.61).

The multi-event portion of the NCAC Championships will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Oberlin, Ohio, with Hilary Coady set to represent Wooster in the heptathlon once again.
