Petrecca Continues Stellar Start, Leaps into NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week Honors

 Jack Petrecca

The College of Wooster's Jack Petrecca of the men's track and field team garnered his second career NCAC Athlete-of-the-Week nod and first of the 2017 season for his winning performance at the Fighting Scots Invitational over the weekend, per an announcement from the conference office on Monday.

The sophomore high jumper cleared 6 feet, 5 inches – five inches above the nearest competitor and one inch below his career-best – on his second attempt at that height. Saturday's performance marks Petrecca's second blue ribbon of the season after leaping to a first-place finish at last week's Wooster Tri-Meet (6 feet, 4.25 inches).

Petrecca's jump of 6 feet, 5 inches currently stands tied for 38th in NCAA Division III competition.

Petrecca also competed in the men's 4x400 relay, which finished with the fourth-best time (3:39.64).

The Scots are back in action at the Bob Shannon Invitational next weekend in Granville, Ohio.
