Sophomore Jordan Dennis lowered his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles to 9.09, while The College of Wooster track & field teams picked up two runner-up finishes in the jumps at the Bob Shannon Invitational. Wooster's women placed seventh at 45 points while the men took ninth at 14 points.

Carnegie Mellon University cruised to the team title for both genders as the Tartans accumulated 217 points in the men's standings to go with 159 women's points. Ohio Wesleyan University placed second with 137 points on the women's side and 103 points in the men's standings.

In the jumps, sophomore Carolyn Webster picked up a second-place finish in the long jump at 16 feet, 8.5 inches, while first-year Summer Robinson earned runner-up status in the triple jump at 33 feet, 4 inches.

Sisters Regan Szalay and Taryn Szalay both earned triple-scorer honors for the meet. Regan Szalay led off Wooster's third-place 4x400 relay that also consisted of junior Lissette Torres, first-year Koral Kasnyik, and sophomore Julia Higgins, who capped the meet with a 4:23.35. Earlier in the day, the Szalay sisters teamed up with Kasnyik and first-year Korri Palmer to cross in fourth-place in the 4x200 relay at 1:54.76, while Regan Szalay turned in an individual sixth-place effort in the 400 meters at 1:03.26.

Taryn Szalay crossed at 27.87 in the 200 meters, which was good for fifth-place, and at 9.95 in the 60-meter hurdles to place sixth. In fact, Wooster had a pair of scorers in the hurdles event with Webster backing Szalay up with a seventh-place clip of 10.00.

Other scorers on the women's side included junior Elizabeth Obi's eighth-place triple jump of 31 feet, 1 inch and senior Emily Reid's 11:42.34 in the 3000 meters, which was good for eighth-place.

Switching over to the men, Dennis, who broke Wooster's 60-meter hurdles mark at last week's Fighting Scots' Invitational, clocked in a 9.09 in the preliminary heats, and was .02 off of that mark in the finals, settling for seventh-place.

First-year Spencer Wilson recorded the highest men's individual finish of the day with a sixth-place heave in the weight throw of 44 feet, while sophomore Brian Lief's 4:32.92 in the mile ranked seventh.

In relay action, the men's 4x200 consisting of Dennis, sophomore Justin Fox, first-year Austin Hamlett, and first-year Nick Lines crossed fourth at 1:36.37. In the 4x400, Wooster placed eighth with Hamlett and Lines joining sophomores Myles Parker and Jack Petrecca for a 3:41.64.

Wooster returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 11, at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein University.
