WOOSTER, Ohio – Six top-three finishes, including four in jumping events, headlined an overall solid performance by The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams as they wrapped up their home meet – the Wooster Invitational – on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams finished in sixth place, with the men totaling 34 points out a 12-team field, while the women totaled 65 points out of 11 participating teams. Mount Union finished atop the standings in both genders.

First-year Summer Robinson jumped to a second-place finish in the triple jump (32 feet, 11 inches).

Sophomores Carolyn Webster and Jacob Denbeaux claimed first-place honors on the weekend, with Webster winning the women's long jump (16 feet, 5 inches) and Denbeaux topping the field in the men's 1500 meters (4:07.92).

Webster was one of four Fighting Scots to post a top-four finish in the women's jumps. In the high jump, Webster, who tied the first-place height of 5 feet, 1.75 inches, earned runner-up honors on tiebreaker procedure. Finishing behind the sophomore in fourth-place was junior Elizabeth Obi (4 feet, 7.75 inches).

Continuing with the women's events, in the triple jump, first-year Summer Robinson went 32 feet, 11 inches, just .75 inches further than the third-place finisher. Meanwhile, classmate Akwia Tilton continued her impressive collegiate start with a third-place try in the long jump (16 feet, .5 inches).

Webster (16.42) and senior Taryn Szalay (17.51) finished second and seventh, respectively in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the relays, the quartet of Szalay, Tilton, first-year Korri Palmer and senior Kennedy Payne claimed fourth-place with a time of 51.80, while in the 4x400, Tilton, junior Mackenzie Kellar, sophomore Emani Kelley and first-year Regan Szalay matched that place, crossing the line in 4:22.10.

Switching to mid-distance and distance, senior Jackie White turned in an impressive fifth-place time in the steeplechase (12:55.48), while Kelley went 2:28.80 in the 800 for eighth-place and just out-leaned the ninth-place finisher, Rachel Gerber of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, who crossed .04 behind Kelley.

In the shot put, senior Paige Fabry finished just outside scoring contention with a 10th-place throw of 31 feet, 5.75 inches.

On the men's side, first-year Austin Hamlett went 23.37 in the 200 and 52.66 in the 400 to finish in fifth- and eighth-place, respectively. Hamlett was also part of a Scots' 4x4 contingent, along with sophomores Jack Petrecca, Myles Parker and Justin Fox, which finished seventh (3:40.14).

A trio of Scot men claimed sixth-place on the weekend, including Denbeaux in the steeplechase (10:12.73), junior Jacob Nowell in the pole vault (11 feet, 2.25 inches), and sophomore Brian Lief in the 1500 (4:14.82).

First-year Spencer Wilson claimed seventh in the discus (130 feet, 2 inches), while sophomore Jordan Dennis matched that place with a 16.71 in the 110 hurdles. In addition, senior Conor Maley turned in a scoring throw in the javelin (123 feet, 5 inches) while sophomore Jarret Art missed a scoring place in the long jump by .25 inches (19 feet, 5. 25 inches).

On the schedule next for the Scots is the Oberlin Invitational, which is set to take place at Oberlin, Ohio on Saturday, April 8, and the All-Ohio Decathlon/Heptathlon, which will take place at New Concord, Ohio on April 8 and 9.
