Sophomore Carolyn Webster and senior Taryn Szalay both picked up a pair of first-place finishes to lead way for The College of Wooster's track & field teams as both the men's and women's squads placed second at the Bob Kahn Invitational held in Oberlin, Ohio.

Webster reached a season-best 17 feet, 9.75 inches to win the long jump, and doubled up in the field events with a 5-foot, 1-inch clearance in the high jump before taking to the track and turning in a career-best 16.33 in the 100-meter hurdles.

Szalay led the way in the 100 hurdles with the winning time of 16.09, and doubled up on first-place finishes with a 27.06 in the 200 meters.

In relay action, Wooster placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x400. In the 4x100, Szalay, first-years Akwia Tilton and Korri Palmer, and senior Kennedy Payne turned in a 51.39, just over a second behind Oberlin's top relay. In the 4x400, junior Mackenzie Kellar, sophomore Emani Kelley, first-year Regan Szalay and Tilton clocked in at 4:12.38.

Other noteworthy performances on the track included Kelley's fourth-place time of 2:26.58 in the 800 meters and first-year Cobi Warstler's fourth-place clip of 5:17.79 in the 1500 meters. In field events, junior Elizabeth Obi went 33 feet, 2 inches in the triple jump for third-place honors while her 4 feet, 9 inches in the high jump was good for fourth-place. Tilton's 16-feet, 5-inch leap in the long jump garnered a fourth-place finish.

On the men's side, sophomore Jacob Denbeaux led a group of 14 runners to the finish in the 800 meters, and turned in a career-best time of 1:59.18. In fact, Wooster had two of the top three finishers in the 800 as first-year Aedan Pettit was just over the two-minute mark at 2:01.64, a time good for third-place.

Wooster's middle-distance success carried over into other events as sophomore David Westcott's second-place time of 4:20.75 in the 1500 meters was backed up by first-year Miki Rae's third-place clip of 4:28.41.

Sophomore Andrew Gold made his season debut in the 400-meter hurdles and crossed at 1:10.17 to take the event unopposed, while junior Geoffrey Carney-Knisely and senior Stephen Hause picked up big points for the Scots in the 3000-meter steeplechase with second- and third-place times of 11:09.03 and 11:11.70 respectively.

In the field events, first-year Spencer Wilson had a strong showing in the discus with the runner-up heave of 125 feet, while his top mark of 37 feet, 8.75 inches placed him fifth in the shot put.

Sticking with the throws, senior Conor Maley and sophomore Cody Park both topped 126 feet on the tape measure to place in the top fourth.

Other noteworthy efforts on the men's side included sophomore Justin Fox's runner-up time of 11.70 in the 100 meters and junior Jacob Nowell's season-high clearance of 11 feet, 5.75 inches in the pole vault.

Wooster returns to action at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, April 15 at Ohio Wesleyan University.
