This Week's Outlook:  The College of Wooster track and field programs take to Greencastle, Ind. this weekend for the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by DePauw University on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.

Ticket Information:  Ticket prices are set by the conference office and are $5 for adults and $3 for children 18-years-old and under. A two-day pass is also available for $10. College of Wooster students are admitted free of charge but must present a student identification card. Additionally, NCAC guest passes and lifetime passes are valid for complimentary admission. No discounts or senior prices are to be given at any NCAC Championship Event.

A Look Back at Last Week…:  Sophomore Carolyn Webster (Fredericktown, OH/Fredericktown) was the lone Fighting Scot to participate at last weekend's NCAC Multi-Event Championships, claiming runner-up honors in the women's Heptathlon after finishing the two-day event with 4,059 points.

As the first runner in program history to claim the conference's indoor Pentathlon crown earlier this year, Webster led last weekend's field with 2,444 points after the opening day. The sophomore standout placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.63) before winning the high jump at 5 feet, 3.75 inches. Then, Webster claimed fourth-place in the shot put (28 feet, 10.25 inches) before placing third in the 200 (28.46).

On Sunday, Webster posted runner-up finishes in the long jump (17 feet, 8 inches) and javelin throw (95 feet, 4 inches) before placing sixth in the 800 (2:47.38) to close out the event with 4,229 points.

…And Heading Into This Weekend:  With Webster's all-conference showing last weekend, the Scots stand in second-place on the women's side with eight points. Sticking with the women, Wooster is projected to finish in sixth-place, according to the 2017 Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, while the men are predicted to place eighth.

Leading Leapers:  First-year Akwia Tilton (Southfield, MI/Roeper School) has been a welcomed addition to an already solid group of Wooster jumpers for both squads. During the indoor season, Tilton went 17 feet, 8 inches to earn all-conference honors, while Webster took home an all-conference certificate in the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches. Outdoors, Webster holds the second-highest high jump (5 feet, 5.25 inches) and third-highest long jump (18 feet, 3.25 inches) in the conference. Notable, Webster high jump ranks in the top-20 in Div. III. On the men's side, sophomore Jack Petrecca (Willowick, OH/North) posted a solid start to the year with an indoor-best 6 feet, 5 inches, while going as high as 6 feet, 2.75 inches in outdoor competition, marking the second-highest outdoor mark in the conference.

Weekly Conference Honors:  Speaking of conference honors, Petrecca, Tilton and Webster all took home weekly NCAC certificates this year, as well as sophomore Brian Lief (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights), sophomore Jackson Feinknopf (Columbus, OH/Bexley), and first-year Austin Hamlett (Shelbyville, KY/John Glenn (MI)). Petrecca reeled it in during the indoor season while Tilton earned the nod nearly two weeks ago with a triple-win performance at the Kenyon College Invitational. Lief was nominated under the Distance category for his winning-800 clip of 1:58.34 at the same invitational. Webster has earned the award twice this season, most recently after placing second in the high jump at the Charleston Southern Invitational. On the men's side in that meet, Feinknopf posted a top-15 time in the 1500 (4:12.79) while Hamlett went 52.54 in the open 400 en route to their first career honors, respectively.

A Year of Firsts:  In addition to Webster's winning score in the indoor Pentathlon championship – a first in more than one way – back in March, senior Conor Maley (Highstown, NJ/Peddie School) logged a program-first after posting a school record in the men's indoor heptathlon. This weekend, the senior is scheduled to compete in the triple jump and the javelin throw.

Three-Stepping to the Podium:  After an eight-place outing in last year's 100-meter hurdles final, senior Taryn Szalay (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) comes in with the third-fastest time in the conference at 15.84. Meanwhile, competing in the 400 hurdles, sophomore Julia Higgins (Middleburg Heights, OH/Berea-Midpark) is listed with the fourth-fastest time among the two heats at 1:08.08, with the top three finishes taking home all-conference honors.
