Sophomore Carolyn Webster came within a quarter of an inch of tying the school record in the women's outdoor high jump on Thursday as a handful of College of Wooster track and field athletes took part in a pair last-chance qualifying meets over the prior two weeks.

The small group of Fighting Scots took to Delaware, Ohio on Thursday afternoon as part of the All-Great Lakes Elite meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Webster pulled out a career-best leap in the high jump, reaching 5 feet, 7.75 inches. Of note, Webster's mark currently ranks tied for the fifth in NCAA Div. III this year.

Also competing in Thursday's events were first-year Akwia Tilton, who placed second in the 200 meters (25.60) and seventh in the long jump (17 feet, 2.75 inches), and sophomore Brian Lief, who went 1:59.74 in the men's 800.

At last weekend's Harrison Dillard Twilight Invitational in Berea, Ohio, Lief won the 1500 with a clip of 3:57.46 while Tilton placed second in the 200 (26.20) and fifth in the long jump. Sticking with the women, senior Dyese Osaze put in times of 13.30 in the 100 and a 27.40 in the 200.

On the men's side, sophomore Jack Petrecca reached 1.94 meters in the high jump while first-year Aedan Pettit (2:04.21) and sophomore Andrew Gold (2:09.44) placed sixth and eighth in the 800, respectively.

Wooster now awaits the official qualifiers for the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Championships which will be announced on Saturday, May 20.
